The Senator for Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports has a wide range of responsibilities. Some of these relate to the office’s role as a state ministry of the Federal State of Bremen (which consists of the two cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven), and some derive from it being part of the municipal administration of the city of Bremen.
The Senator’s office is also the federal state’s top level aviation authority, as well as being in charge of the regulatory and functional supervision of the Hansestadt Bremen Port Authority Office and the Bremen Office for Social Security and Integration (AVIB).
The office is also responsible for associated organisations, such as Bremeninvest, BTZ Bremer Touristik-Zentrale / Gesellschaft für Marketing und Service mbH, bremenports GmbH & Co. KG, and Flughafen Bremen GmbH.
